Highways Project Manager
AWC Staff Services have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Highways Project Manager to join an established highways and infrastructure team in the East of England.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the delivery of highways maintenance and improvement schemes, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction or highways professional looking to take responsibility for significant project portfolios while continuing to develop their career within the infrastructure sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage delivery resources to ensure the successful completion of construction projects valued up to £500,000, alongside annual portfolios of approximately £4 million.
- Manage health, safety, environmental and quality requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.
- Work with programme and client representatives to develop annual delivery plans and ensure agreed commitments are achieved.
- Manage the delivery phase of highways schemes, allocating resources effectively to maximise utilisation and maintain programme consistency.
- Undertake design surveys and early contractor involvement meetings to establish scope, agree works values and inform commercial target costs.
- Review and agree applications for payment in line with agreed commercial targets.
- Coordinate operational teams, subcontractors and other delivery resources throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure works are delivered to the required technical, safety and quality standards.
About You
The successful candidate will have experience within highways construction or maintenance and be confident managing operational resources and multiple schemes.
You will ideally have:
- Experience managing construction scheme operational resources.
- Experience delivering structural maintenance schemes, including carriageway and footway resurfacing, surface dressing and other highway treatments.
- Experience as a New Roads and Street Works Supervisor.
- SMSTS qualification.
- Relevant academic qualifications in construction, civil engineering or project management.
- Good knowledge of Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Asta and Confirm.
- Strong communication, team-working and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects within programme and budget requirements.

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £50 - 60,000 Per Annum, + Car
