AWC Staff Services are looking for a Senior Estimator to join our client for a FTC of 18 months. Our Client provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.
You’ll be involved in high‑voltage substation and overhead line schemes, working closely with bid, design, commercial and project teams. There’s plenty of flexibility too, with adaptable working hours and 2–3 days a week in the Annesley (Nottinghamshire) office.
Day‑to‑day, you’ll get involved in:
- Spotting scope gaps and risks early
- Supporting the bids manager with kick‑off meetings and programme planning
- Working with procurement and commercial teams
- Challenging and understanding project solutions
- Reviewing supply chain quotes and benchmarking costs
- Pulling together tender prices in Excel (Candy may be used in future)
- Preparing client pricing documents and helping with presentations
- Building strong working relationships across the business
What you’ll bring
- Previous experience in 400kV substation and overhead line estimating (preferrable)
- Previous experience in infrastructure projects (essential)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel (essential) and able to use other Microsoft Office applications
- Basic understanding of engineering/construction technology and terminology
- Ability to read and understand engineering specifications and drawings
- Basic understanding of contractual terminology
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
- An attention to detail, pro-active, organised and methodical approach to work
