AWC Staff Services are looking for a commercially savvy Managing Quantity Surveyor to work with our client and lead the charge on high-profile transmission overhead lines projects for SSE Scotland, as a part of their Transmission and Renewables team who design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.
You will work across sites in Scotland, so willingness to travel is essential.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Taking the lead on all things commercial across SSE & SPEN sites
- Managing subcontractor packages, valuations, and final accounts
- Preparing claims, reports, and forecasts that make sense
- Keeping a close eye on project risks and making sure the paperwork’s watertight
- Spotting variations, delays, and opportunities to recover costs
- Working with engineers, planners, and finance teams to keep things on track
- Making sure we stay compliant with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards
What You’ll Bring:
- Solid experience in Quantity Surveying, ideally in infrastructure or energy
- Strong grasp of NEC3/4 contracts and commercial strategy
- Top-notch communication and negotiation skills
- Confident with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying
- Full UK driving license
