AWC Staff Services are looking for a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our clients dynamic team. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of NEC Contracts, an understanding of procurement practices and of Cost/Value process and reporting. This position requires a hardworking individual with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for construction methods, processes and the review of cost implications of all technical and design information
- Attain a full understanding of how the parties to a contract hold responsibility for the timely delivery of a project and their obligations, rights and remedies in the event of delays
- You will have a good understanding of the planned projects, complete monthly progress valuations of projects
- Liaise with the Project Manager regarding contractual issues and their possible effect on profitability
- Attain a full understanding and working knowledge of compiling subcontract orders
- Ensure that all contractual requirements for bonds, guarantees and warranties are obtained from subcontractors
- Manage the procurement of key subcontracts with particular emphasis on the proper transfer of risk.
- Monitor and review material differences between subcontractor applications and their payments, provide advice etc to pre-empt possible adjudications.
- Develop an understanding and knowledge of the payment processes under the Main and subcontracts.
- In conjunction with site staff implement and maintain the appropriate records required to manage a construction contract i.e. Engineers diaries,
- Programme reports, As-built records and evidence etc.
- Attending site visits and client meetings
Qualifications:
- HND/HNC/Degree in Quantity Surveying desirable
- Must have working knowledge of NEC Contracts
- A valid drivers licence
- Working understanding of procurement practices and forms of main and subcontract
- Good understanding of Cost/Value process and reporting
